Chiropractors are regulated health-care providers whose scope of practice is to assess, provide a diagnosis, and treat conditions that relate to the spine, nervous system, and other joints of the body.
At the Pain and Wellness Centre, our chiropractors provide a range of evidence-based, medication-free treatments to reduce pain, improve mobility and build endurance. Treatments might involve spinal adjustments, exercise therapy, medical acupuncture and muscle treatment techniques.
What to Expect in a Chiropractic Visit
In order to be treated by a Chiropractor, a patient must have a comprehensive assessment. This involves a detailed history and physical examination. Once those are completed, the Chiropractor explains to the patient what was found during the examination and provides a diagnosis. If the Chiropractor feels that the condition or problem can be treated, various treatment options will be discussed with the patient, and a treatment frequency to deal with the problem. The patient then decides what forms of treatment they are comfortable with and potential risks are discussed followed by the signing of a consent form.
If the Chiropractor feels that the problem cannot be treated or requires special tests to better understand the issue, a referral to another healthcare provider will be suggested and the Chiropractor will do their best to support the needs of the patient.
