Dr. Karen Spivak
Karen Spivak is a registered psychologist licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 1990. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal and she pursued post-doctoral training at the Addiction Research Foundation and the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry. Since 1992, Dr. Spivak has maintained a private practice, which includes the provision of clinical services for Depression, Anxiety, Life Stressors, Chronic Pain, and Post-Accident Adjustment Difficulties.
Dr. Spivak also conducts Insurer Examinations through West Park Assessment Centre for the past 19 years. She worked for four years with Dr. Angela Mailis at the Toronto Western Hospital in the Comprehensive Pain Program with chronic pain patients and potential candidates for spinal cord stimulators. Since 2014, Dr. Spivak has been working as Lead Psychologist and Clinical Coordinator with Dr. Mailis and the multi-interdisciplinary team at the Pain and Wellness Centre in Vaughan.
Dr. Spivak works with clients to with a variety of mental health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety, family/work stressors, life changes, and pain). The goals of treatment are to identify and address issues that may be impacting on her clients’ ability to cope with daily stressors, to learn to interact positively with their environment, and to enjoy their lives so that they can achieve a positive sense of well-being and positive mental health.
