Dr. Karen Spivak has extensive experience as a psychologist and she has strived to create a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment for her clients. Dr. Spivak provides client-centered psychotherapy based on her clients’ needs. At the PWC, Dr. Spivak works with adults 19 years and older with a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, family/work stressors, struggles with self-identity, life changes, feeling stuck in moving forward or difficulty finding balance in their lives, bereavement, post-accident adjustment difficulties, alcohol and substance abuse and chronic pain.
Dr. Karen Spivak is a registered psychologist licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 1990. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal and she pursued post-doctoral training at the Addiction Research Foundation and the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry. Since 1992, Dr. Spivak has maintained a private practice, which includes the provision of clinical services for Depression, Anxiety, Life Stressors, Chronic Pain, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Post-Accident Adjustment Difficulties. She worked for four years with Dr. Angela Mailis at the Toronto Western Hospital in the Comprehensive Pain Program with chronic pain patients and potential candidates for spinal cord stimulators.
Since 2014, Dr. Spivak has been working as Lead Psychologist and Clinical Coordinator with Dr. Mailis and the multi-interdisciplinary team at the Pain and Wellness Centre in Vaughan.
